Abstract:
ATCOPIA58_I is a consensus sequence of an internal region of the ATCOPIA58 Copia-like endogenous retrovirus. There are 4 copies of ATCOPIA58_I present in the genome; they are 98% identical to the consensus sequence, and are flanked by ~1% divergent ATCOPIA58LTR LTRs and 5-bp target-site duplications. ATCOPIA58_I encodes the 1021-aa ATCOPIA58p Copia-like polyprotein. Presumably, ATCOPIA58 was a semi-autonomous endogenous retrovirus. It is ~85% identical to ENDOVIR1.
