Abstract:
ATCOPIA84_I is an internal region of the ATCOPIA84 Copia-like endogenous retrovirus flanked by the 90% identical ATCOPIA84LTR long terminal repeats, and a 5-bp target-site duplication (GAGAA). ATCOPIA84 forms a separate family of Copia-like retroviruses present in the A. thaliana genome. ATCOPIA84_I encodes remnants of the ATCOPIA84p Copia-like polyprotein. The ORF which encodes ATCOPIA84p is damaged by multiple false stop codons and other mutations.
