Abstract:
ATCOPIA86_I is an internal region of the ATCOPIA86 Copia-like endogenous retrovirus flanked by the 99% identical ATCOPIA86LTR long terminal repeats, and a 5-bp target-site duplication (TGTAG). ATCOPIA86 forms a separate family of Copia-like retroviruses present in the A. thaliana genome. ATCOPIA86_I encodes remnants of the ATCOPIA86p Copia-like polyprotein. The ORF which encodes ATCOPIA86p is damaged by one false frame shift.
