Abstract:
FUGUREP4 has an unknown origin, though 4A has an internal deletion with respect to 4B, reminiscent of DNA transposons. There are over 500 copies of FUGUREP4A and B in the Fugu genome The average substitution level of copies is 18%. FUGUREP4 is old and a copy is present at orthologous sites in the Neoteleostei specific dystrophin intron of all Perciformes species sequenced by Venkatesh,B. et al. PNAS 96, 10267-71 (1999).
