Title: BEL4_AG, a family of Bel/Pao-like LTR retrotransposons from African malaria mosquito. |

Abstract: BEL4_AG is a family of Bel/Pao-like LTR retrotransposons. BEL4-I_AG, an internal portion of BEL1_AG, is flanked by BEL4-LTR_AG LTRs. The BEL4-I_AG consensus sequence was reconstructed based on multiple alignment of 10 copies; they are less than 1% divergent from the consensus sequence. The consensus sequence encodes one 1761-aa BEL4_AGp Bel-like protein (pos. 95-5377). BEL4_AGp is composed of the peptidase (pos. 158-300), reverse transcriptase (pos. 800-930), and integrase (pos. 1480-1625) domains.
