Title: HAT1_CI, a family of autonomous hAT DNA transposons from the sea squirt Ciona intestinalis. |

Abstract: HAT1_CI is a family of autonomous elements related to the hAT superfamily. There are ~10 HAT1_CI elements in the C. intestinalis genome, they are 97% identical to the consensus. The consensus was reconstructed from 5 copies, therefore a transposase encoded by HAT1_CI is not completely reconstructed. The draft version of the HAT1_CIp transposase is 575-aa long (positions 617-2314). The N-terminal portion of HAT1_CIp (pos. 8-54) includes a BED zinc finger. HAT1_CI is flanked by 15-bp terminal inverted repeats (1 mismatch). The HAT1_CIp transposase was also involved in propagation of the HATN1_CI nonautonomous element.
