Abstract: HELITRON1N_MT is a nonautonomous rolling-circle transposon. Some copies are less then 1% divergent from the consensus sequence. HELITRON1N_MT elements are inserted into the AT target site, and they have a 19-bp palindrome followed by the 12-bp 3' terminus. The M. truncatula genome harbors many families of Helitron transposons, including autonomous elements. Similar to autonomous Helitrons present in the A. thaliana and O. sativa genomes, autonomous Helitrons from M. truncatula encode the Rep/helicase and RPA1-like proteins.
