Title:
MarinerN1_CI, a family of nonautonomous mariner/Tc1 DNA transposons from the sea squirt Ciona intestinalis.
Journal:
Repbase Reports 3(6), 115-115 (2003)
Abstract:
MarinerN1_CI is a family of nonautonomous elements related to the mariner/Tc1 superfamily. There are ~100 MarinerN1_CI elements in the C. intestinalis genome. The consensus sequence was reconstructed from 70 copies, which are 94% identical to it. MarinerN1_CI shares similar 48-bp and 33-bp 5' and 3' termini with Cimi-1. MarinerN1_CI has 28-bp terminal inverted repeats (3 mismatches). The compact ~120-Mb C. intestinalis genome is a heaven for mariner/Tc1 DNA transposons, they constitute over 5% of the whole genome.
