Title:
piggyBac1_CI, a family of autonomous piggyBac DNA transposons from the sea squirt Ciona intestinalis.
Journal:
Repbase Reports 3(6), 119-119 (2003)
Abstract:
piggyBac1_CI is a family of autonomous elements related to the hAT superfamily. The consensus was reconstructed from 5 copies. It encodes a 773-aa piggyBac1_CIp transposase (positions 263-1981). A zinc finger is present at the C-terminus of piggyBac1_CIp. piggyBac1_CI has 13-bp terminal inverted repeats and is flanked by the TTAA target site duplications. A piggyBac1_CIp-like transposase was also involved in propagation of the piggyBac1N1_CI nonautonomous element.
