Abstract: GYPSY32_AG is a family of Gypsy-like LTR retrotransposons that, according to the amino acid sequence of its Reverse Transcriptase, is phylogenetically grouped with representatives of the MDG3 lineage of other organisms. GYPSY29_AG, GYPSY30_AG, GYPSY31_AG, GYPSY33_AG, GYPSY34_AG, GYPSY35_AG, GYPSY36_AG, GYPSY37_AG and GYPSY38_AG are other members of this same lineage in Anopheles gambiae. The GYPSY32-I_AG consensus was reconstructed after multiple alignment of 3 copies. The consensus encodes the 1442-aa GYPSY32_AGp gag-pol like polyprotein (pos. 129-4454). The sequence of the LTRs flanking GYPSY32-I_AG is deposited as GYPSY32-LTR_AG.
