Title:
SINEX-4_CR, a putative SINE-like non-LTR retrotransposon from the green algae genome.

Abstract:
About 30 copies of SINEX-4_CR are present in the C. reinhardtii genome. They are ~99% identical to the consensus sequence. Usually SINEX-4_CR are flanked by 11-15-bp target site duplications. Th 58-bp 3' terminus of SINEX-4_CR is 91% identical to that of SINEX-1_CR. The putative Pol III internal promoter (pos. 50-73) was derived from tRNA. This region is similar to the Pol III promoter of RATHE2 (pos. 55-78), a SINE element identified in the A. thaliana genome (GenBank, AY033702).
