GYPSY69_AG, a member of the mag lineage of the Ty3/gypsy group of LTR retrotransposons in Anopheles gambiae.

Abstract:
GYPSY69_AG is a family of Gypsy-like LTR retrotransposons that, according to the amino acid sequence of its reverse transcriptase, is phylogenetically grouped with representatives of the mag lineage of other organisms. GYPSY19_AG, GYPSY20_AG, GYPSY21_AG, GYPSY22_AG, GYPSY23_AG, GYPSY24_AG, GYPSY25_AG, GYPSY26_AG, GYPSY27_AG, GYPSY28_AG, GYPSY55_AG, GYPSY56_AG, GYPSY57_AG, GYPSY58_AG, GYPSY59_AG, GYPSY60_AG, GYPSY61_AG, GYPSY62_AG, GYPSY63_AG, GYPSY64_AG, GYPSY65_AG, GYPSY66_AG, GYPSY67_AG and GYPSY68_AG, are other members of this same lineage in Anopheles gambiae. The GYPSY69-I_AG consensus was reconstructed after multiple alignment of 4 copies. The consensus encodes the 351-aa GYPSY69_AG1p gag-like polyprotein (pos. 201-1253) and the 1166?aa GYPSY69_AG2p pol-like polyprotein (pos. 1853-4621). The sequence of the LTRs flanking GYPSY69-I_AG is deposited as GYPSY69-LTR_AG.
