Abstract:
GYPSY72_AG is a family of Gypsy-like LTR retrotransposons that, according to the amino acid sequence of its reverse transcriptase, RNase and integrase is phylogenetically grouped with representatives of the MDG3 lineage of other organisms. GYPSY30_AG, GYPSY31_AG, GYPSY32_AG, GYPSY33_AG, GYPSY34_AG, GYPSY35_AG, GYPSY36_AG, GYPSY37_AG, GYPSY38_AG and GYPSY71_AG are other members of this same lineage in Anopheles gambiae. The GYPSY72-I_AG consensus was reconstructed after multiple alignment of 4 copies. The consensus encodes the 1341-aa GYPSY72_AGP gag-pol like polyprotein (pos.35-4057). The sequence of the LTRs flanking GYPSY72-I_AG is deposited as GYPSY72-LTR_AG.
