Title:
Novosib-N1, a family of nonautonomous Novosib transposons from the green algae genome.

Abstract:
Novosib-N1 is a family of nonautonomous Novosib DNA transposons. It is composed of ~50 copies that are ~95% identical to their consensus sequence. Novosib-N1 elements are characterized by 8-bp target site duplications and by imperfect 17-bp terminal inverted repeats (3 mismatches). Novosib-N1 shares ~80% identical 5' 50-bp and 3' 250-bp termini with the Novosib-1 autonomous transposon. Therefore, transpositions of Novosib-N1 elements were mediated by a Novosib-like transposase.
