Abstract:
The consensus sequence represents the 3' terminal portion of the autonomous Penelope-1_SP retrotransposons. It encodes the C-terminal portion of a reverse transcriptase. The genome harbors several hundred copies of Penelope-1_SP. The ~180-bp 3 terminal portion forms often inverted repeats.
