Abstract:
This non-autonomous element has characteristic internal/LTR regions of an ERV, but has no coding capacity. It is most similar to ERV18_MD, hence the designation as ERV1. Unusually for Monodelphis ERVs, the target site duplications are 3 bp. Copies are numerous and ~90% similar to the consensus. The autonomous counterpart is not identified. This consensus was reconstructed from the June 2005 release of the 6.8X WGS sequence.
