Abstract:
CR1-8_SP is a non-LTR retrotransposon that belongs to the CR1 clade. Copies of CR1-8_SP are ~3% divergent from the consensus sequence. The consensus sequence is incomplete due to 5' truncations of CR1-8_SP elements upon their retrotranspositions. CR1-8_SP encodes a protein (pos. 1-2800) composed of the reverse transcriptase domains. Due to the small number of copies, the coding region is not well reconstructed (frameshift/short deletion around position 420). The 3' terminus of CR1-8_SP is composed of the (CTCAA) microsatellite.
