Abstract:
This is an internal portion of Gypsy-8_CR LTR retrotransposon. It encodes one 2903-aa polyprotein composed of gag, reverse transcriptase, PHD zinc finger, and integrase. This polyprotein is characterized by unusually long distance between the reverse transcriptase and integrase (~900 aa). Gypsy-8-I_CR encodes also a second putative ORF downstream of the polyprotein. Corresponding protein does not match anything known (it can be an artifactual ORF due to the high GC content).
