Title:
NeSL, a spliced leader RNA gene-specific non-LTR retrotransposon family from nematodes.
Journal:
Repbase Reports 13(1), 769-769 (2013)
Abstract:
This sequence includes the 5' 33 bp of spliced leader exon. It is the target of NeSL-3_CBre. The terminal structure indicates it is a Helitron, but unclear. This sequence was derived from sequence data generated by Genome Sequencing Center at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. The spliced leader exon-specific non-LTR retrotransposon family, NeSL, was reported from Caenorhabditis elegans [1]. Here we report NeSL elements from six other Caenorhabditis species: C. angaria, C. brenneri, C. briggsae, C. japonica, C. remanei and C. sp. 11 MAF-2010. The target sites are the same among the NeSL elements whose termini were determined, with the exception of NeSL-3_CBre, which targets a putative transposon (TE-1_CBre) including a part of spliced leader sequence.
