Title:
piggyBacA - a novel group of piggyBac transposons.
Journal:
Repbase Reports 14(8), 2325-2325 (2014)
Abstract:
This transposon belongs to a novel piggyBacA group of piggyBac transposons. that also includes the piggyBacA-1_DPur, piggyBacA-1_DD, and piggyBacA-1_PPal transposons identified in Dictyostelids. The piggyBacA TPase is so distant from TPases encoded by other piggyBac transposons that their significant similarity to each other was detected only after 3 PSI-BLAST iterations with specific parameter values different from the default: e.g. gap cost penalties were equal to (10, 1), instead of (11, 1). piggyBacA-1_NGr is related to the piggyBacA-1N1_NGr non-autonomous transposon: they share common 58-bp and 70-bp 5'- and 3'- termini. Copies of both transposons are flanked by ATAT TSDs, contrary to the canonical TTAA TSDs.
